Generations is one of several churches that support and maintain the Jessamine County Food Pantry (Their Website)  The JCFP provides one to two boxes of food for 300-400 families each month.  It is designed to help families in need divert some of the money they would have spent on food to other urgent things like rent or medical care.

One Tuesday night each month, we gather in the basement of Nicholasville Christian Church (the current distribution center) to sort food and pack that month’s food boxes.  Between 2007 and 2008, we’ve seen a 25% increase in the number of families served by this important ministry.

Our “philosophy” of outreach can be summarized in two ways: (1) as a group, we do things to help make our community a better place (whether it’s helping feed the hungry, providing school supplies or putting on virtue “programs” free of charge to local schools) (2) as individuals, we try to be intentional to develop friendships and relationships with people in our “spheres of influence” without an agenda, loving them as Jesus would.
