We meet at Rosenwald-Dunbar Elementary School (1500 Wilmore Road, Nicholasville)
We have age-appropriate programs for children that run the entire length of our weekly worship gathering. For children birth through age 4 (those not currently enrolled in Kindergarten), we run “the Park.” For children Grades K-5, we run “G’town.” In both our preschool and school-age environments, we make only “one point,” and we center the experience on small groups.
Worship Gathering | 10:00 a.m.
We keep our worship service to 60 minutes. During that time, you’ll do things you might expect to do in a church service like sing, pray and listen to a message. But you’ll also likely experience things you might not necessarily associate with “church,” like film clips and comic relief elements.
Because we believe in teaching “less for more,” our pastor and Sunday morning presenters work very hard to say only one thing! That’s right. Not 7 steps to holiness or a million fill-in-the-blanks. Just one thing. We’ve found it’s hard to do, but far more effective!
Several times a year, we plan what we call a “multi-sensory” worship experience, a “hands-on” way of doing church. On multi-sensory mornings, you’ll likely encounter candlelight, lots of atmosphere, and things you can actually see, hear, taste, touch and smell (usually in the form of “stations” that you can visit during the service – though not always). Many of our members have discovered that they are greatly impacted by these types of services. Because of the significant planning and preparation involved (and so that we don’t “water down” the effect), we only do them once every 6-8 weeks.
Kidstuf| 11:15 a.m. (September – May)
Kidstuf is our shared worship experience for families. We sometimes tell parents to think of “Hee Haw” or “Laugh-In,” because that’s as close as we can come to describing Kidstuf for people who have never experienced it before. Kidstuf is simply a lot of fun, and it puts moms and dads on the same page as their kids. Kidstuf is designed specifically for children in Grades K-5 and their families, although we find that younger siblings enjoy it, too!
